Manuale di Biologia Modificata – Editorial Design & Art Direction
We designed the cover graphics to act as a conceptual entry point a visual proposition that reflects the book’s critical and exploratory nature. The identity we developed balances clarity and nuance, establishing a visual system that supports the intellectual framework of the content while creating visual consistency throughout the publication.
Manuale di Biologia Modificata is an editorial project born at the intersection of science, design, and visual storytelling. The work transforms a complex subject into an engaging and thoughtfully structured publication that speaks to both intellectual depth and sensory experience.
Our team led the project from its inception, taking responsibility for art direction, visual identity design, editorial layout, and material choices. From concept to production, every decision was guided by the desire to create a publication that feels as carefully considered in its visual language as it is in its content.
In the editorial layout, we orchestrated typography, grids and visual hierarchies that enhance readability while giving space to the book’s thematic explorations. The structuring of pages was conceived to guide the reader through information and narrative with rhythm, coherence and visual clarity.

The result is an editorial work where form and content resonate together — a project in which graphic design, materiality, and narrative structure come together in a unified whole. Manuale di Biologia Modificata stands as an example of editorial design that engages both visually and intellectually, revealing how thoughtful design can bring depth, meaning and elegance to complex ideas.
The selection of paper and materials was an integral part of the design process. We chose stocks with distinct tactile qualities that amplify the sensory experience of reading and reinforce the book’s conceptual presence as a physical object.
