Matter + Papper – Editorial & Material Exploration

Our approach was rooted in curiosity: not only about what can be seen on the page, but about how the very texture, weight and presence of paper influence perception and meaning. The editorial design was conceived as a space where form and content coexist in mutual amplification where every fold, hue, and typographic decision becomes part of the narrative.

Matter + Papper is an editorial project born from a fundamental investigation into the relationship between materiality and visual expression. At its core, the project celebrates the poetic dialogue between matter the tactile, physical substance of paper and papper the expressive potential that resides within its surface. This work is not simply a publication; it is an immersive encounter with the material world of design.

The visual identity of Matter + Papper gives form to this concept through a language that is at once minimal and tactile. Far from neutral, the design foregrounds material presence, allowing paper itself to become a protagonist. Carefully chosen stocks, contrasting textures, and thoughtful finishes were selected to evoke a sensory appreciation that goes beyond the visual: an invitation to touch, feel, and inhabit the work.

Matter + Papper is a testament to the power of design to illuminate the unseen qualities of the everyday. It stands as a reflection on how material choices shape perception, how texture becomes language, and how subtle details can transform an object into an experience. This project reaffirms our belief that editorial design at its best does not just communicate, but resonates.

In the editorial layout, we choreographed pages to create rhythm and tension. Grids, scale, and typographic contrast were balanced to guide the reader through a journey of discovery where silence and space are as meaningful as text and imagery. Each section of the publication reveals a different facet of material exploration, articulated through deliberate editorial sequencing and visual poise.
