Museo della Tarsia — Creative Direction & Brand Identity

The new brand and logo design draw inspiration from the modularity and geometric logic of marquetry, translating traditional craftsmanship into a clean, contemporary sign system. This approach allows the museum to position itself as both a guardian of heritage and an active cultural platform.

The project developed for the Museo della Tarsia in Rolo is rooted in the desire to reinterpret and communicate a deeply local yet historically significant craft tradition through a contemporary visual language. The museum itself preserves and narrates the heritage of wooden marquetry, a refined artisanal technique that flourished in the area from the 18th century onward .

Our intervention focused on defining a cohesive and recognizable identity capable of bridging past and present. We curated the creative direction, shaping a visual narrative that reflects the precision, layering, and compositional richness inherent to the art of inlay.

The website was conceived as an extension of this identity: an immersive and accessible digital environment where content, typography, and visual rhythm echo the tactile quality of woodwork. Particular attention was given to clarity, storytelling, and user experience, enhancing the museum’s role as a center for documentation, education, and research.

The result is an integrated communication system that elevates the perception of the museum, transforming it into a contemporary cultural entity while remaining deeply connected to its historical roots.

The photographic direction completes the project by capturing materials, details, and spaces with a strong editorial sensibility. Through light, textures, and close-up compositions, the imagery emphasizes the intrinsic beauty of craftsmanship while reinforcing the overall visual coherence of the brand.
